A whistle you'll hear from the next room
When the water boils, the spout lets out a loud whistle. Put it on, go and hang the washing out, and come back when it calls.
For the whistle to work properly, fill to around 80 percent, below the max water line.
Press with your thumb to pour
The spout cap lifts with a press of the thumb on the handle, so there's no fiddling with a hot flap while you pour.
The handle has a wood-grain silicone coating, which keeps your hand off bare metal.
Works on gas, electric and induction
It suits gas burners, electric and radiant tops, and induction cooktops. That makes it an easy gift when you don't know what's in their kitchen.
Use a low to medium heat, and never heat it empty. A high flame can lick up the sides and mark the finish.
The first cold morning in Hobart
